Geoff Howard

After the November 2002 election he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture. Geoff has also served as the Chair of the Education and Training Committee and is currently serving as the deputy chair of the Rural and Regional Committee. Geoff has a strong passion for education and training and the opportunity they provide for regional Victorians. He also believes in equal access to quality services and supports for regional people. Geoff works tirelessly to make sure that the states prosperity does not end at the metropolitan boundary but extends to all regional people wherever scattered across the large and small cities and towns of the Electorate of Buninyong.


John Fraser

John Fraser recently retired Secretary to the Treasury had one of the most powerful economic policy-making positions in Australia. In this capacity, John was a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia; a member of the Australian Council of Financial Regulators and Chair of the G20 Global Infrastructure Hub. The former investment banker was a key policy player in a period when Australia has been significantly reducing its budget deficit. John served for over twenty years with the Australian Treasury, including appointment as Deputy Secretary (Economic). John was Chair of the Victorian Funds Management Corporation from 2009 to 2015. Chairman and CEO of UBS Global Asset Management from late 2001 to 2013.


Jeff Bourne

Jeffrey is the Founder and Managing Director of Rocket Seeder - a provider of a range of programs for food and agriculture innovators and entrepreneurs. He is an innovation consultant, advising on and leading product and service innovation, specialising in new venture creation and entrepreneurship. In his previous corporate career, Jeffrey developed and launched a number of disruptive new products and services used by hundreds of thousands of Australian customers, and generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.


Tim Ellis
City of Greater Geelong


Tim Ellis is the manager of Enterprise Geelong and Events at the City of Greater Geelong. Previously he was the Manager Economic Development at East Gippsland Shire Council, and prior to that worked for Regional Development Victoria in Gippsland. He has over 20 years working experience in both large and small organisations, private and public and during his time in Melbourne he was also the General Manager for a start-up eCommerce company.


Justin Gigdings
Avalon Airport


Justin is in his 10th year as Chief Executive Officer of Avalon Airport. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, holds a Masters of Business Administration, a Bachelor of Commerce and is a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Recently Avalon Airport announced it was set to go international with AirAsia to commence double daily flights to Kula Lumpur on 5th December. Avalon also hosts Jetstar domestic services, the Australian International Air Show and a 35,000 square metre global distribution centre for Cotton On.


David Downie
Strategic Advisor to Deakin's Centre for Regional and Rural Futures (CeRRF)


David has over 30 years experience directing and implementing policy reform and delivering significant infrastructure projects for the State of Victoria. He was responsible for introducing and implementing major reform across the energy and water sectors. He was the former Head of the Office of Water, Victoria and also Secretary Department of Energy and Minerals, and Deputy Director General of Conservation and Environment. David is an expert in government relationships and strategy, and engagement with community, academia and business sectors. This included the privatisation of Energy in Victoria and the formation of the Murray Darling Basin Authority, inter-state water sharing arrangements.


Brett Winter
Geelong Port


Brett commenced his maritime logistics career working for Toyota Australia in their export program, before moving into a number of supply chain management roles. Joining Patrick in 2007, Brett has held leadership roles in Business Development, Transport, Stevedoring and Port Facilities Management. As Geelong Port CEO, Brett is responsible for the management of key port assets, operational service delivery and driving the Port's growth strategy.


Wayne Street
Geelong Food Co‚ÄźProducts Cluster


Wayne Street is a regional development consultant and manager of the Geelong Food Co-Products Cluster. Wayne will discuss the G21 Agribusiness Roadmap Project conducted in 2017 and the subsequent implementation of collaborative agribusiness initiatives flowing from the G21 Agribusiness Strategy, drawing on some examples and input from two of the champions in participating businesses - Nicole Newman from The Food Purveyor and Stephen Parker from Mount Moriac Olives.


Graeme Anderson
Climate Specialist - Agriculture Victoria


Graeme is an experienced science communicator and extension leader within Victoria's Primary Industries sector. He leads a small team who work with farmers and service providers delivering products (The Break, Soil Moisture Monitor seasonal risk newsletters, Agriculture Victoria climate webinar series, ClimateDog animations, customised presentations for 100 events/year) which assist industry, farmers and service providers in making sense of emerging climate and seasonal risk information and applying this to fit within their local farm systems and decision making.


Bruce Harwood
Mayor of Geelong


Mayor Bruce Harwood was born and raised in Geelong, attending Geelong College, Deakin University and Gordon TAFE. He ran for Council so he could be actively involved in the decision making and future direction of our city.


Clive Larkman
VAC Chairman


Clive Larkman has been the Victorian Agribusiness Council's Chairman for 6 years, and has been Chair of Agribusiness Yarra Valley since 2006. As owner of Larkman Nurseries he has grown the medium sized propagation nursery producing 400 000 plants a year to one of the top specialist propagation nurseries in Australia with a production level of 2 million tubes per annum. From 2003 to end of 2005 Clive was a Councillor for the Shire of Yarra Ranges. He sat on many community, council and business bodies with the aim to enhance the quality of life in the Yarra Ranges.
